Photos last forever!

(Photo by Fisher Creative Image) There are many important decisions when planning your wedding.  Creating a budget, guest list, and choosing a venue are a few!  Another important decision is choosing a photographer.  Remember, pictures of your special day will last forever.  When I first starting looking for a photographer, I did not have any in mind.  I started by looking at websites for local photographers in Buffalo, NY to get an idea of their style.  Photographers each have unique styles.  Some are traditional, some are contemporary, and some are a little riske!

I actually found our wedding photographer looking at wedding pictures on facebook.  One of my former classmates used Fisher Creative Image Photography and posted pictures of her wedding there.  I was immediately drawn to their photos because they were very unique and very art-like.  Here is one of my favorite photos from our wedding:

I could imagine hanging art-like photos that our photographers took over a mantle or in a bedroom after the wedding. I believe you should display photos where you will enjoy them, otherwise there is no point of taking them! Creating an album and sticking it in a drawer while never looking at it like many couples do is shameful. If you’re going to spend around 10% of your wedding budget on your photographer, you need to show off those photos! Jeff and Snjezana Fisher own Fisher Creative Image Photography and they both took pictures at our wedding. They were very professional and made sure to take photos of all of our special moments throughout the day. Snjezana even sowed my bustle button back on my dress when my husband stepped on it while we were dancing, she definitely knew all about wedding emergencies and what to do.

Make sure you really look through potential photographer’s websites and check out albums of other couples. Some photographers list their albums by venue and you can even get an idea of how different venues photograph along with their style of photography.

I recommend calling potential photographers and interviewing them about their start/end time, how many different photographers will be taking photos at the wedding, and most importantly find out if you can obtain the rights to the photos so that you can print copies after.  Don’t be afraid to ask to speak with previous clients to find out how satisfied they were with the photographers.  Ask if they have ever taken photos at your specific venue and how the lighting and picture opportunity is there.  Find out if they offer packages that include albums, wallet pictures and/or large print photos.  I was happy that wallet photos came with our package as we included one in every thank-you letter.

Remember when choosing a photographer, pictures will last forever and will carry on memories of your wedding day.  I was very satisfied with our photographers and I do not regret paying for amazing photos.  They do travel for weddings so feel free to contact them, tell them that I referred you!
